I have no intention of attending this event, but I'm pretty sure that, when I wake up the morning of October 2, the first thought that enters my brain will be: "Get up! Get up! It's time for the Greek festival!!!"

First Day of School

This morning I saw my daughter off to first grade. It was her first time taking the bus to school. The bus was 20 minutes late. 

She's growing up so fast.

The Strike Is Over! Kind of.

DeCamp says it has reached an agreement with the drivers' union for something called "a cooling-off period." As opposed to the cooling-off period of nine or 10 days when no one was working and there was no service, I suppose. And in addition to a pre-cooling-off period of Monday and Tuesday, as under the terms of this agreement drivers will not return to work until Wednesday, September 15. (Paging Frank Luntz! We need a euphemism transplant, stat!)

This is good news. However: still no word of a contract.

Strike, Day 9: Discontents, Meet Civilization

This was a pleasant surprise on arrival at Penn Station this morning. 

These people should go on tour -- to the DeCamp picket line. Might chill everyone out a bit.
